RISCA Grant

Music on the Hill has recently received notice of a $2,300 grant award from the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts. This grant will be used to support the 38th annual Music on the Hill Chamber Music Festival in June 2012, featuring professional native Rhode Island artists.

The award will assist us in meeting our mission of providing an annual concert series in order to share with the Rhode Island community the talent and passion of professional native Rhode Island musicians and to inspire future generations with innovative live performances of chamber music.

Rhode Island State Council on the Arts informed us that this grant cycle was among their most competitive, with 238 applications received and only 76 projects funded. We're very appreciative to have been among the minority funded and hope that funding for the arts will continue and increase in the coming year. That the arts are often seen as the expendable line item in a challenging budget is unfortunate, and we appreciate the commitment of RISCA to elevating artistic endeavors in Rhode Island.

Funding for our festival is provided in part by a grant from the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts, through an appropriation by the Rhode Island General Assembly, a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts and private funders.
