Musician Bio

Melissa Stevens

Melissa Stevens has played oboe with ProMusica Chamber Orchestra in Columbus Ohio since 1994. She is also second oboe with the Columbus Symphony. Melissa is in her second year as professor of oboe at Otterbein College, and was the Assistant Professor of Oboe at Capital University from 1992-1997. She also plays oboe and English horn with Lancaster Festival, a position she has held since 2001. From 1998-2001, she was a member of the Wheeling Symphony.

Dr. Stevens received her Doctorate of Musical Arts degree and a Master’s degree from the Ohio State University where she studied with Robert Sorton. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in oboe from the New World School of the Arts in Miami, Florida, where she was a student of John de Lancie.

Dr. Stevens has performed at the 1999 National Flute Convention and the 2001 International Double Reed Society Convention as a member of the Cardinal Trio. She has attended the Aspen Music Festival, Waterloo Music Festival, and was awarded the Presidential Scholar from RI to attend Interlochen.

Melissa resides in Westerville with her husband, Mark Stevens, and their three children Noah, Nathaniel and Sarah.
Melissa was born and raised in Tarklin where she graduated from Burrillville High School.
